Passion, Corporate Values & Coaching
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Identify an organization’s core values and you have found the keys to any company’s passion, performance, and results. Ultimately, there is only one boss in the corporation – corporate values.
E. L. Kersten calls himself the founder and COO of Despair Inc. which markets a line of demotivational posters and other products. In “Core Values, Devalued,” a tongue-in-cheek article from the June 2005 issue of Workforce Management, Kersten asks us to “imagine a workforce that’s wholly committed to a set of values that constrains their behavior, but leaves executives free to do as they please.”
A company that follows his guidelines for developing values can accelerate the process he calls Radical Demotivation(TM). His guidelines include:
  • using consultants to develop the organization’s core values
  • stating core values as ambiguously as possible so employees can infuse them with their own meanings, making accountability more difficult, and
  • anchoring core values to objectives over which employees have little control, making it easier for employees to experience failure.
(Read the entire Workforce Management article here. . .)
Most organizations recognize the potential for core values to ignite performance and results. Very few understand how to get corporate values off the plaque on the wall and into the heart of the company. Corporate coaching is a proven solution for this dilemma.
RAC3 Group works with organizations to identify core values. Once those values have been identified, we help the top leadership team to
  • translate the core values into leadership qualities and skills that will grow the emerging leaders
  • build a strong foundation that will bring alignment, discipline, and integrity to the corporation
  • Identify behaviors that evoke and demonstrate those values, one at a time
  • Tweak each behavior until it is specific, observable, and measurable
  • Assess the current and desired performance, prepare an action plan
  • Implement personal coaching
Is your organization on the road to Radical Demotivation(TM) or on a path for high performance and positive results? Contact us if you would like to continue this conversation.
